In the past, I've worked a lot with service learning in schools - empowering and motivating students to contribute to their communities. The fact is, across the nation, there are so many neighborhoods, communities and organizations that are in need of help to do the work they do. They rely on volunteers, donations and the power of coming together to work for a common cause.
When I heard about the State Farm Neighborhood Assist program, I was really excited to be able to share it here - not only for the work it will help many communities do, but because of the role State Farm has given youth in this program.
What is State Farm Neighborhood Assist?Communities from both the US and Canada were given the chance by State Farm® to submit causes that would make a positive impact in their neighbohood. The State Farm Neighborhood Assist, a youth-led philanthropic program, empowers communities to identify and help solve issues in their communities. 3,000 submissions were received and the program's Youth Advisory Board- made up of 30 students who are passionate about social responsibility, narrowed this field down to 200 causes based on criteria they had created. The best part is, now State Farm wants your help to vote for which cause you would like to see be given $25,000. 40 causes will be given that chance!
How to VoteFrom now until April 22nd you can vote on which cause you would like to receive $25,000 and the 40 with the most votes will win.
Just visit the State Farm Neighborhood Assist voting tab on Facebook. You will be prompted to “allow” the app on your computer - which is standard and similar to other Facebook applications you may have allowed. Next, just click the vote button and a map with all the causes you can vote for will open up. It’s super easy and you are able to vote 10 times per day for any combination of causes.
